Renewable energy solutions provider Vestas has been awarded an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) order for two wind projects, Lumivaara and Storbötet, with a combined capacity of 161MW.
The wind projects are a joint venture between Neoen and Prokon and are located in Finland.
The Storbötet wind farm, situated in the municipality of Uusikaarlepyy, will have a capacity of 105MW and will be equipped with 17 V162-6.2 MW wind turbines.
On the other hand, the Lumivaara project, located in the municipality of Hyrynsalmi, will have a capacity of 56MW and will feature nine V162-6.2 MW wind turbines. Vestas will provide engineering, procurement, and construction services for both projects.
Jerri Loikkanen — Neoen Finland Managing Director said: “It’s a great pleasure to be working with Vestas once again.
“This co-operation is a natural continuation after the successful delivery of Mutkalampi wind farm (404 MW). Neoen has the ambition to become the leader in renewable energy in Finland and the support of trusted industrial partners is essential to accelerate our development.”
As part of the agreement, Vestas will also provide long-term service and maintenance for the turbines through a 20-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement. This comprehensive service package is designed to ensure optimal performance and maximize the lifespan of the wind turbines.
The delivery of the turbines for both projects is scheduled to commence in the early third quarter of 2024. The wind farms are expected to be fully operational and generating clean energy by 2025, contributing to Finland’s renewable energy targets.
Vestas’ collaboration with Neoen and Prokon in these wind projects underscores the company’s commitment to supporting the transition to a sustainable energy future. By providing advanced wind turbine technology and comprehensive service solutions, Vestas aims to facilitate the development of reliable and efficient renewable energy projects that contribute to the global fight against climate change.
Anna Schlasberg Wachtmeister — Vestas Vice President Sales for Northern and Central Europe said: “Vestas and Neoen have a strong history of successful project deliveries in Finland, and we are excited to continuing the partnership with this new order.
“This order also underlines the versatility of Vestas’ EnVentus platform and its ability to provide our customers with business case certainty in different sites.”
