Significant scope of work

The redevelopment focuses on rehabilitating and upgrading essential systems, including electrical distribution, hazardous area equipment, main switchboards, and fire control mechanisms. Beyond system refurbishment, the project also encompasses demolition, fabrication, supply, installation, monitoring, and commissioning, ensuring quality assurance at every phase.

Notably, Verbrec’s South Australian engineering team has already completed the project’s prior design phase, a milestone that laid the foundation for securing the construction phase. Mark Read, Chief Executive Officer of Verbrec Limited, credited the team’s expertise, emphasising the critical nature of the work and its alignment with Flinders Ports’ commitment to long-term infrastructure investment.

Reliable operations for the future

The M Berth Facility serves as a pivotal point for oil and fuel unloading into South Australia, making the planned upgrades essential for operational reliability. The facility’s redevelopment will occur in stages, in line with planned shutdowns, ensuring minimal disruption while laying a robust foundation for sustainable operations.

The project follows a “Design and Construct” contract model, a common approach for large-scale infrastructure projects. This structure enables tailored solutions while adhering to industry standards, a hallmark of Verbrec’s operational ethos.

Strategic importance

With its extensive service portfolio spanning energy, mining, infrastructure, and beyond, Verbrec is strategically positioned to leverage its technical expertise. The company’s capabilities in asset management, automation, pipelines, and process plants are expected to play a critical role in delivering this project. Verbrec’s continued success in securing high-value contracts further cements its standing as a leading engineering and technology services provider in Australia, New Zealand, and Papua New Guinea.
