VA TECH WABAG (‘WABAG’), a globally renowned Indian multinational specializing in water technology, has announced securing a significant order worth approximately 850 million INR. This contract, awarded by Nama Water Services in the Sultanate of Oman, encompasses the operation and maintenance (O&M) of the Al Duqm Desalination Plant for a period of five years.
Overview of the Contract
The O&M contract includes the comprehensive management of the desalination plant, as well as the associated seawater intake and outfall systems. This plant, constructed by WABAG over a decade ago, has been a pivotal asset in supplying water for domestic consumption in the Duqm and Haima areas of Al Wusta Governorate.
Strategic Implications for WABAG
This contract marks a continuation of WABAG’s involvement with the plant, having previously managed its operations until 2018. The new contract, won against international competition, not only reaffirms WABAG’s operational excellence and technical competence but also enhances its order book with a steady stream of annuity income. This is expected to bolster the company’s cash flow and ensure better revenue predictability.
Comments from Leadership
Subramaniam M, Sales & Business Development Director – GCC at WABAG, commented on the acquisition, stating, “In line with our growth strategy, this new order addition in Oman, to our already strong O&M order book provides annuity income which helps us with improved cash flow and better revenue predictability. We thank Nama Water Services for their continued confidence in our capabilities and technical competence which has been key to winning this repeat order.”
Securing this contract not only signifies WABAG’s robust position in the international water treatment industry but also underscores the importance of sustainable water management solutions in arid regions like Oman. The company’s ongoing commitment to innovation and efficiency in water technologies continues to set industry standards.
