US supermarket chain Giant Food opens new store in Onley, Maryland
US supermarket chain Giant Food has opened a new store in Olney, Maryland with an investment of $21 million.
The new Giant Food store, which is located at 18140 Village Center Drive, has more than 40,270 square feet of shopping space. The new store is a replacement for the other Giant Food store located at 17821 Georgia Avenue in Olney, which has closed its doors.
Giant Food says that the new store will feature a brand new layout and decor and will enable customers to easily navigate between the aisles. The store comprises an expanded natural and organic produce department, a full gourmet cheese section, full-service meat, seafood, bakery, a health and beauty department, improved hot food offerings, floral departments, sushi bar, and also dairy and frozen kosher food sections.
Additionally, the new Giant Food store in Onley will have a PNC Bank branch, a full-service pharmacy, free WiFi and Starbucks Cafe.
The store, which has created more than 50 new jobs, will have self-checkout and self-scan options for customers.

Giant Food, which has its headquarters in Landover, Maryland, operates 164 supermarkets across Virginia, Delaware, Maryland and the District of Columbia.
