Union Pacific Intermodal Terminal to provide intermodal service to Minneapolis
US-based transport company Union Pacific is set to launch intermodal service to Minneapolis in January 2021 by opening the Union Pacific Twin Cities Intermodal Terminal.
According to Union Pacific, the new service will enable domestic intermodal service between the Twin Cities and Los Angeles, thereby expanding the reach of customers to major Upper Midwest markets.
Kenny Rocker – Union Pacific executive vice president – Marketing and Sales, commenting on the Union Pacific Twin Cities Intermodal Terminal, said: “We are excited to introduce an intermodal terminal strategically located in the heart of the Minneapolis – St. Paul metropolitan area that offers efficient access to Union Pacific’s intermodal network.
“This new marketplace alternative will give regional shippers and receivers fast, direct and reliable intermodal service to key markets.”
Union Pacific claims to have the largest intermodal network in North America. It is said to have the most direct services from coast to coast.
The Nebraska-based transport company said that it will assess additional service expansion opportunities into the Twin Cities Intermodal Terminal throughout next year.
The Union Pacific Intermodal Terminal is situated at 525 Kasota Avenue SE in Minneapolis.
