India’s Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, initiated a series of infrastructure developments in Pratapgarh, Rajasthan, totalling INR 5,600 crores.
This consists of both inaugurating ongoing projects and laying the foundation stone for future ones. Four national highway projects, cumulatively spanning 219 km and costing INR 3,775 crores, were launched. The projects aim to facilitate socio-economic development and ease traffic congestion in various parts of Rajasthan.
The initiatives include 6-lane projects on National Highway 48 from Kishangarh to Gulbapura and Gulabpura to Chittorgarh, expected to boost the interconnectivity of Bhilwara and Chittorgarh districts.
The 4-lane ROB on National Highway 162A at Fatehnagar is anticipated to alleviate traffic jams at railway crossings. Additionally, a new bridge on the Chambal River will promote connectivity between Mandrayal, Karauli in Rajasthan, and Sabalgarh in Madhya Pradesh.
The foundation stones for seven projects totalling INR 1,850 crores and 221 km in length were also laid. These include plans to establish direct connectivity from the religious site Nathdwara to Udaipur airport, build a bypass at Pratapgarh to reduce inner-city traffic, and construct a road from Raas to Biaora.
The developments will also benefit tribal areas of Dungarpur, Udaipur, and Banswara by improving their connectivity, reducing the distance between Dungarpur and Banswara by 10 km through bypasses in Sangwara and Garhi, and including the construction of thirteen animal underpasses in Todgarh Wildlife Sanctuary for wildlife protection.
Gadkari also announced that 74 projects under the CRF, costing INR 2,250 crores, have received approval for construction in Rajasthan. Work on these projects is expected to begin shortly.
