UK’s Waitrose expands food delivery service with Deliveroo to 110 new shops

British supermarket chain Waitrose said that it will expand its food delivery service with Deliveroo to 110 new shops across the UK with up to 400 new jobs generated by the expansion plan.

By the end of the summer, the retailer will expand the number of Waitrose shops on Deliveroo service to 150, while reaching out to nearly 13 million people with its food items.

James Bailey – Executive Director for Waitrose said: “We have grown our online business at pace in the last year, responding to huge demand for online groceries and offering more choice in when and how people want to shop with us.

“We know convenience is key for many of our customers and the expansion of the service with Deliveroo will play an integral role in helping us make Waitrose food more convenient than ever before.”

The partnership is said to be a central part of the expansion strategy of Deliveroo across the UK, which is currently at 60% of the country’s population.

The UK-based online food delivery company said that its customers can now order from 750-1,000 products and have them delivered as early as 20 minutes from Waitrose shops across Scotland, the North West, North East, South West, Midlands, South East, and London.

New locations on the Deliveroo service will include shops in Cheltenham, Exeter, York, Lincoln, and Sheffield.
