UK toy retailer Hamleys opens flagship toy store in Beijing

China retail industry news : UK toy retailer Hamleys has opened a new store in Beijing, which is its third toy store in China and its largest store worldwide.

The new Hamleys toy store in Beijing is located in Wangfujing, considered to be a popular shopping street in China.

According to Hamleys, its 10,700sqm Beijing toy store has thousands of items in its inventory spread across five floors. The Hamleys Beijing toy shop features traditional toys, educational games for kids of all ages along with high-tech entertainment games.

It also claims to have a variety of entertainment facilities apart from products of more than 200 products in what is its flagship toy store. Located on the fifth floor, the Hamleys Beijing store offers interactive games for kids of different ages, which include an ocean world area, carousel, NERF shooting and VR viewing experience.

Some of the brands on display at the Hamleys toy store in Beijing are Peppa Pig, Disney, HAPE, Lego and the own brand of the British toy retailer in the form of Hamleys teddy bears.

Hamleys stated that its expansion in China where it plans to open a total of 100 toy stores to cash in on the end of the country’s one-child policy and the increasing demand for infant and mother care and toys.

Founded way back in 1760, Hamleys has presence across 25 countries with over 110 stores in total.
