UAE and São Paulo sign AI partnership at World Government Summit 2024
In a landmark move to bolster global technological innovation, the UAE’s Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Secretariat of Management and Digital Government (SGGD) of São Paulo, Brazil. Announced at the World Governments Summit (WGS) 2024, this collaboration is set to revolutionize São Paulo’s technological landscape by integrating the cutting-edge Falcon Large Language Models (LLMs) into its digital ecosystem, enhancing government services with artificial intelligence (AI).
The deal, inked on the sidelines of the prestigious WGS, underscores a shared commitment between the ATRC and São Paulo’s SGGD to leverage AI for societal benefits. São Paulo, Brazil’s vibrant economic hub, will tap into ATRC’s rich technical expertise, exploring Falcon LLMs and Falcon-powered solutions to streamline digital services across various sectors. This initiative not only marks a significant step in adopting advanced AI in São Paulo but also propels Falcon’s capabilities onto a global stage, signaling a new era of international tech collaboration.
H.E. Faisal Al Bannai, Secretary General of ATRC, and Mr. Caio Mário Paes De Andrade, Secretary of São Paulo State, both expressed their enthusiasm for the partnership. Al Bannai highlighted the agreement’s role in fostering global AI partnerships, while De Andrade emphasized the transformative potential of integrating Falcon AI models into São Paulo’s infrastructure.
The Falcon series, developed by ATRC’s Technology Innovation Institute (TII), represents the forefront of open-source AI research. The partnership also involves ATRC’s AI company AI71, which specializes in delivering AI models with a focus on decentralized data ownership. This collaboration between TII, AI71, and São Paulo is poised to set a benchmark for international cooperation in AI, enhancing both public and private sector services through innovative technology.
This partnership exemplifies the growing trend of global collaboration in technology and innovation. By harnessing the power of Falcon LLMs, São Paulo aims to become a beacon of AI advancement in Latin America, with potential ripple effects across the world. The initiative also highlights the importance of open-source models in democratizing AI technology, allowing for broader experimentation and application across different industries.
