Tragic Ladakh road accident : Nine Indian Army personnel succumb, nation mourns

In a sorrowful incident near Kiari in Ladakh, nine brave soldiers of the Indian Army lost their lives, with another critically injured, when their convoy vehicle skidded and plummeted into a gorge. The vehicle, moving from Leh to Nyoma, met with this tragic accident 6 km before Kiari, as per SSP Leh’s statement. The local police quickly reached the accident site, transferring all victims to the army MI room. “Tragically, 8 men perished immediately, and another passed away during the hospital transit,” the official statement conveyed.

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh voiced his grief over the Ladakh road accident. On the microblogging site X, the minister expressed, “Heartbroken by the loss near Leh. The nation salutes their outstanding service. Wishing a quick recovery for the injured.” Union Home Minister , deeply disturbed by the accident, iterated, “India stands united with the grieving families. My deepest sympathies are with them, and I pray for the prompt recovery of the wounded.”

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and BJP National President expressed their anguish and extended their condolences to the affected families. Both leaders emphasized the significant contribution these soldiers made to the nation and prayed for the speedy recuperation of the injured.

BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari and Congress stalwarts and also paid their respects. Adhikari sent his “sincere condolences” to the bereaved families, while Rahul Gandhi, who is in Ladakh, expressed profound sorrow over the soldiers’ demise due to the accident. Mallikarjun Kharge affirmed that the country would remain forever grateful to its soldiers, extending deep condolences to the grieving families and wishing the injured soldier a swift recovery.
