Titagarh Rail Systems bags Rs 857cr contract for Surat Metro Rail

Titagarh Rail Systems Ltd (TRSL), formerly known as Titagarh Wagons Limited, has secured a significant contract for the Design, Manufacture, Supply, Testing, Commissioning, and Training of 72 standard gauge cars for the Surat Metro Rail Phase I Project. The contract, valued at approximately INR 857 crores, signifies a substantial leap for the company in the rail systems industry.

Strategic Expansion at State-of-the-Art Facility

The contract execution is scheduled to kick off 76 weeks after the formal signing, with completion anticipated within 132 weeks thereafter. The Surat Metro Rail Project is a massive undertaking, encompassing two corridors spanning a total of 40.45 kilometers, featuring 38 stations, and boasting an estimated cost of INR 12,020 crores.

Cutting-Edge Manufacturing in West Bengal

Titagarh Rail Systems is poised to manufacture these state-of-the-art metro cars at its cutting-edge facility in Utarpara, situated in the Hooghly district of West Bengal, India. Demonstrating its commitment to growth and excellence, Titagarh Rail Systems has allocated significant capital expenditure (capex) of approximately Rs. 650 crores for expansion in the coming years, with a substantial portion already invested and yielding positive results.

Solidifying Prominence in Rail Systems

In addition to the Surat Metro Rail Phase I Project, Titagarh Rail Systems has also received a Letter of Acceptance for 30 standard gauge cars for Phase II of the Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project.
