Titagarh Rail Systems Limited (TRSL), a leading Indian rolling stock manufacturer, has initiated production of trainsets for the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited’s (BMRCL) Phase 2 Yellow Line project, marking a significant development in urban transportation infrastructure in India. This step is part of a broader collaboration with China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation (CRRC), reinforcing Titagarh’s commitment to enhancing public transit solutions.

Overcoming Production Delays and Strengthening Partnerships

The partnership between BMRCL and CRRC Nanjing Puzhen Co Ltd, which was formalized in December 2019, experienced initial setbacks that led to delays. To mitigate these issues, CRRC and Titagarh entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that allows for the local production of trainsets at Titagarh’s state-of-the-art facility in Uttarpara. Under this MoU, Titagarh is tasked with manufacturing 34 of the required 36 trainsets locally, while the remaining two sets, comprising 12 coaches, will be produced in China.
