Thermax, a leader in energy and environment solutions, has taken a significant step towards being a trusted partner in the global energy transition. The company showcased its innovative green and decarbonisation solutions at the inaugural edition of Thermax Fest in Pune, held between December 12-15, 2023. This event marked a key milestone in Thermax‘s journey towards bridging the gap between energy availability and sustainability.
Major Announcements and Vision for the Future:
During the event, Thermax Group made crucial announcements that outline its future direction and commitment to global energy transition goals. The company, through one of its subsidiaries, secured orders worth over Rs. 500 crore from a leading energy conglomerate to set up five bio-CNG plants across India, in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh. These plants, with a capacity of producing 110 tonnes per day (TPD) of bio-CNG, will utilize local feedstocks like rice straw and Napier grass. This initiative is a part of Thermax’s broader strategy to introduce solutions around biochemicals and bioenergy.
Thermax’s Diverse Range of Offerings:
Thermax is renowned for being the largest provider of biomass-based green energy solutions, offering standard products, hybrid energy systems, complex EPC projects, and green steam/power as a service. The company has also invested in a biomass-sourcing supply chain to ensure a consistent fuel supply.
Hybrid Renewable Energy Solutions and Gasification Plants:
Another key initiative includes the installation of 1 GW of hybrid renewable energy solutions by FY 2027. This involves intra-state and inter-state projects to meet diverse electricity requirements, including a 290 MWp wind and solar bundled captive power project in Tamil Nadu. Furthermore, Thermax aims to develop gasification plants with carbon capture capabilities, processing coal ranging from 100 to 500 TPD. A pilot gasifier project in partnership with IIT Delhi has been implemented at Thermax’s Pune factory, converting high-ash Indian coal into value-added fuels.
Electrical Energy Solutions and MD’s Statement:
Thermax has launched electrical energy solutions like electric boilers and hybrid heat pumps for heating and cooling needs. MD and CEO Ashish Bhandari emphasized that Thermax has been driving sustainability through innovation, cross-functional expertise, and partnerships. The company’s focus on technologies for waste to energy conversion, hybrid renewables, biofuels, and green hydrogen is a testament to its commitment to energy transition.
Conclusion:
Thermax’s focused efforts position it as a key contributor to a greener future, showcasing cutting-edge solutions at Thermax Fest that can help industries meet their climate commitments.
