Thermax Babcock & Wilcox Energy Solutions secures major order in Botswana
Thermax Babcock & Wilcox Energy Solutions Limited (TBWES), a fully owned subsidiary of Thermax, has recently secured a significant contract worth Rs. 513 crore from a leading industrial conglomerate to set up a 600 MW greenfield energy project in Botswana, Southern Africa. This order marks a crucial step in meeting the escalating energy demands of the region.
Under the terms of the contract, Thermax Babcock & Wilcox Energy Solutions will supply two 550 TPH CFBC (circulating fluidised bed combustion) boilers. These boilers are essential for the first phase of the project, which includes the establishment of a 300 MW power station. The entire project is scheduled over a period of 23 months, encompassing design, engineering, manufacturing, testing, supply, and the supervision of erection & commissioning, followed by performance testing.
The power generated from this project will be sold to the national utility power company, which plays a pivotal role in supporting Botswana’s growing power requirements. This project not only aims to enhance the power generation capacity but also contributes to the sustainable development of the region.
