The Original Cakerie, a division of US-based Dessert Holdings, will expand its London, Ontario plant to meet the increasing demand for its frozen desserts in Canada.
The project will increase the capacity of The Original Cakerie for making all of its existing products.
Slated to begin construction later this fall, the project will add a new building to the existing one at 2825 Innovation Drive in London and invest in new production lines.
The new facility is expected to provide employment to approximately 100 additional people over the next year.

“We have made significant investments over the last three years, which have allowed us to meet this demand, and this additional capacity will enable us to continue doing so in a category that is expected to maintain strong growth.
“We are excited to invest in our facility and work with the community to set the stage for a great future.”
The construction of the project is expected to be completed by the fall of 2020.

The Original Cakerie is a frozen desserts manufacturer for retail and foodservice customers across Canada and the US for 40 years.
