The Landing Hotel Pittsburgh in Schenectady : Rivers Casino Pittsburgh set to break ground on $60m hotel project
Rivers Casino Pittsburgh, which is owned by Rush Street Gaming, said that it will begin construction on The Landing Hotel Pittsburgh in Schenectady, New York later this summer with an investment of $60 million.
The seven-story, four-star hotel will have 219 guest rooms and will attach to the existing Rivers Casino Pittsburgh on the east facade, located along the Ohio River’s North Shore in Pittsburgh.
Rivers Casino Pittsburgh secured approval from the Pittsburgh Planning Commission in 2017 to build a hotel. However, the development was delayed after the approval of gaming legislation that added category four mini-casinos.
Rivers Casino Pittsburgh, during the time gap, completed various significant property upgrades, which include adding a gourmet burger restaurant, opening The Event Center for upsized galas and expos, and launching a sportsbook.
Greg Carlin – CEO of Rush Street Gaming and Rivers Casino Pittsburgh, commenting on The Landing Hotel Pittsburgh, said: “The time is right. Statewide gaming expansion changed our schedule, but never our intentions. Rush Street always envisioned a hotel for Rivers to create a full-service destination on the North Shore. We see it as a natural evolution.”
The Landing Hotel Pittsburgh will become the second location for The Landing Hotel, which opened doors in Schenectady in New York about two years ago as part of Rivers Casino and Resort’s complex located at Mohawk Harbor.
According to Rivers Casino Pittsburgh, The Landing Hotel Pittsburgh will create nearly 128 permanent new hotel and casino roles apart from 1,400 temporary construction jobs. The new hotel in Schenectady will be constructed by Pittsburgh-based Massaro Construction Group.
Rivers Casino Pittsburgh expects around 18 months to wrap up the hotel project with a target of opening the The Landing Hotel Pittsburgh somewhere in early 2021.
The casino boasts of 2,708 slots, 128 table games, 55 hybrid gaming seats and also a designated Sportsbook area to facilitate live sports betting.
