Thales selects L&T Technology Services for 5G-driven connectivity solutions for urban railways

L&T Technology Services (LTTS) said that it has been selected by Thales to provide 5G-driven next-generation connectivity solutions for urban railways.

The Indian pure-play engineering services company will collaborate with Qualcomm Technologies in this connection to deliver advanced solutions to benefit urban railway operators.

“As the transportation industry becomes more data-driven, this 5G-enabled Internet of Things (IoT) deployments will provide new ways to monitor metros and infrastructure and deliver the best possible user experience.”

The solution from L&T Technology Services will make use of the company’s chip-to-cloud experience and its technology portfolio that includes IoT equipment as well as 5G small cells that are based on Qualcomm Technologies. These will be used to design and deploy solutions to the Global 5G Private Network Industry, with digital offerings that aim to speed up the transformation of various industries, including rail networks, automotive, and aerospace.

L&T Technology Services’ end-to-end 5G capabilities are said to allow global companies to benefit from speedier deployment, cutting-edge software as well as comprehensive managed services. This facilitates the development and deployment of private virtual networks that can be used for 5G.

With the assistance from Qualcomm Technologies’ 5G technologies that allow smart cloud edge convergence, the Indian firm said that it has created a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for 5G in Santa Clara, California.

The hub is claimed to exhibit an array of vital applications that are powered by 5G, and its Lab-as-a-Service offerings comprise MEC use cases development, end-to-end services testing, POC development showcasing, and system integration along with services of validation and verification for customers across key sectors.

L&T Technology Services’ solution will also include the collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies, which will provide pre-integrated Private Network solutions based on the Qualcomm FSM100 5G RAN Platform designed for small cells. In the future, it will add an additional feature called the Qualcomm Edgewise Suite for managing and automating RANs.

The Indian pure-play engineering services company said that it can facilitate a complete integration of the system, design, and deployment of use cases, engineering consultancy, deployment services, as well as edge-to-cloud orchestration.
