Terror strike averted! Russian military takes down five drones bound for Moscow
The Russian military intercepted five drones on Tuesday, thwarting what they described as an attempted terrorist attack near Moscow.
According to the defence ministry, these unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were allegedly launched by the Kyiv regime. Fortunately, the drone interceptions resulted in no casualties.
Four of the intercepted drones were dealt with by air defences in the New Moscow region, while electronic warfare technology was used to bring down the fifth in the Odintsovo district of the Moscow region. These incidents disrupted flights and triggered several hours of restrictions on landings and takeoffs at Moscow’s Vnukovo airport. Despite the disruption, normal operations resumed after 0500 GMT.
Flights from several countries, including Russia, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates and Egypt, had to be diverted.
Maria Zakharova, a foreign ministry spokeswoman, condemned the attempted attack, stressing that the Kyiv regime’s target included civilian infrastructure and an airport that services international flights. She called for the international community to recognise the roles of the United States, Britain, and France, who are permanent members of the UN Security Council, in allegedly financing a ‘terrorist regime.’
The Ukrainian Armed Forces’ spokesperson for the eastern grouping, Serhii Cherevatyi, claimed that Russia has deployed over 180,000 troops across the eastern frontline. He shared this information in an interview with Ukrainian media, stating that a significant number of these troops are concentrated at the Lyman-Kupyansk front due to its larger size.
In related news, the Deputy Ukrainian Defence Minister Hanna Maliar reported that Russian forces have made advancements near the eastern Ukrainian town of Svatove. She highlighted that Ukrainian troops are encountering intense resistance and are constantly dealing with remote mining and enemy reserves’ redeployment. Despite these challenges, she affirmed that the troops are striving for the swiftest possible advancement.
