Terabase Energy completes 17MW solar project with Terafab automation platform
Terabase Energy, a leader in digital and automation solutions for solar power plants, has announced the successful completion of its first commercial project, marking a significant advancement in the solar industry. The company’s Terafab construction automation platform was instrumental in installing 17 megawatts (MW) of the 225 MW White Wing Ranch solar project in Arizona.
Terafab System: A Milestone in Solar Construction
In collaboration with Leeward Renewable Energy (LRE) and EPC contractor RES, Terabase Energy‘s Terafab system demonstrated several groundbreaking achievements in solar construction. The system provided workers with shaded and cooled working conditions in the harsh desert environment, eliminated manual lifting of heavy components, improved labor productivity by 25%, enabled PV module packaging reuse, and showcased the effective integration of automation, Internet of Things (IoT), a digital twin, and data analytics.
Advancing Solar Industry with Automation and Digital Twin Technology
Matt Campbell, CEO of Terabase Energy, emphasized the project’s significance: “This milestone marks a pivotal moment in our mission to accelerate solar power plant deployment… The Terafab system was deployed alongside our Construct digital twin software, demonstrating interoperability of our existing product offerings with physical field applications.”
Sam Mangrum, EVP of Project Execution at LRE, highlighted the transformative potential of automation in solar construction: “The benefits demonstrated by this project underscore the transformative potential of automation in advancing solar construction practices…”
Will Schultek, Vice President of Construction at RES, also recognized the impact of Terabase’s technology: “White Wing Ranch demonstrates that Terabase’s technology can drive substantial progress in solar construction safety, quality, cost, and schedule.”
The successful implementation of the Terafab system at the White Wing Ranch project serves as a proof of concept for the potential of digital and automation technologies in revolutionizing solar construction, positioning Terabase Energy and its partners at the forefront of this trend in the renewable energy landscape.
