Tata Steel announced a tragic accident that occurred at its BFPP2 power plant at Tata Steel Meramandali Works in Dhenkanal, Odisha.
The incident, caused by the escape of steam during inspection work, occurred at 1:00 pm (IST) today, impacting several workers on-site.
The affected personnel were immediately moved to the Occupational Health Centre within the plant premises and were later transported to Cuttack for further treatment. The transport was facilitated by the company’s ambulance, which was accompanied by a doctor and paramedics as a precautionary measure.
Following the accident, emergency protocol services were activated, and the area was cordoned off. Tata Steel has extended all necessary information and support to the families of those affected by the incident.
The company is collaborating with the relevant authorities and has initiated an internal investigation to determine the cause of the accident. Tata Steel emphasized that safety remains their top priority and committed to learning from this incident. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
