Tata Power wins Rs 418cr contract for NTPC’s Nokh Solar PV Project in Rajasthan
Tata Power Solar Systems Limited (TPSSL), a key subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), has announced a landmark contract with NTPC Limited for the supply of 152 MWp DCR Solar PV Modules to the Nokh Solar PV Project. The contract, valued at approximately ₹ 418 crore marks a significant stride in India’s renewable energy sector.
NTPC, India’s leading integrated power producer and a central Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Power, is developing the 735 MW Nokh Solar Park at Pokaran, Jaisalmer, in Rajasthan. This ambitious project will utilize DCR category Bi-Facial Mono-PERC modules, aligning with the nation’s sustainable energy objectives.
The solar panels, including the solar cells and modules for these DCR Solar PV modules, will be manufactured in India. This is in adherence to the Domestic Content Requirement policy, emphasizing TPSSL’s commitment to promoting local manufacturing and supporting the Indian economy. The 152 MWp DCR Solar PV Modules for the Nokh Solar PV Project will be supplied by TPSSL’s Solar Cell and Module Manufacturing plant located in Bengaluru.
TPSSL’s expertise in the solar energy sector is well-established, with a significant EPC portfolio comprising more than 12.5 GWp of ground-mount utility-scale, over 2 GW of rooftop and distributed ground-mounted systems, and over one lakh solar water pumps. The contract with NTPC Limited further consolidates TPSSL’s position as a leader in the renewable energy industry in India.
This contract between TPSSL and NTPC is not just a business transaction but a testament to the growing focus on renewable energy in India. TPREL, as a subsidiary of Tata Power—one of India’s largest integrated power companies—plays a pivotal role in the nation’s transition to sustainable energy sources. The Nokh Solar Project, with the backing of TPSSL’s advanced technology and manufacturing capabilities, is set to be a cornerstone in India’s journey towards a greener future.
