Tata Power Renewable Energy partners with SJVN for 460MW renewable energy project

Tata Power Limited (TPREL), a leading player in ‘s renewable energy sector and a subsidiary of The Tata Power Company Limited, has signed a significant Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with SJVN Limited, an Indian Public Sector Undertaking. This agreement initiates a 460 MW Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) Project, designed to integrate solar, wind, and battery storage technologies.

The FDRE project aims to provide round-the-clock power, significantly aiding Distribution Companies (Discoms) in fulfilling their Renewable Purchase Obligations (RPO) and Energy Storage Obligations (ESO). This landmark project not only supports the grid during peak hours but also promises substantial environmental benefits, projecting to generate nearly 3,000 million units (MUs) of power annually and offset approximately 2,200 million kilograms of CO2 emissions each year.

With the addition of this project, TPREL’s total renewable capacity reaches 9,421 MW, with 7,978 MW under PPA. The operational capacity stands at 4,515 MW, including 3,485 MW solar and 1,030 MW wind. The company also boasts a substantial solar EPC portfolio, featuring over 12.8 GWp of ground-mount utility-scale, more than 2 GW of rooftop and distributed ground-mounted systems, and over 100,000 solar water pumps, affirming its commitment to providing integrated green energy solutions.

The collaboration between Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited and SJVN Limited sets a new standard for large-scale renewable projects in India.
