Tata Power begins operations at 100MW plant in Raghanesda Solar Park

Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) has started operations at its 100MW solar power project at the Raghanesda Solar Park in Gujarat.

The fully-owned subsidiary of Tata Power is expected to produce 255 million units of power from the solar power plant in Gujarat in its first year of operation.

The Tata Power solar power project will offset 200,000 tonnes of carbon emission annually.

Located in Banaskantha district, the Raghanesda Solar Park is among the biggest solar parks in India.

The solar power project in Banaskantha was awarded by Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL). With its commissioning, Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited has taken its total installed capacity t0 2.8GW, of which 1.86GW is solar and 932MW is wind.

The Tata Power subsidiary has a pipeline of 1.23GW of renewable projects under implementation.

Last month, Tata Power signed a deal to divest Singapore-based shipping company Trust Energy Resources for $285m to Tata Power International.
