Tata Power bags 84MW solar rooftop project in Kerala from KSEBL

Tata Power said that it has bagged an INR 400 crore worth contract from the Kerala State Electricity Board Limited (KSEBL) for developing a 64MW solar rooftop project for domestic consumers across all the districts in Kerala.

As a part of the agreement, the Tata Group company will execute projects via KSEBL of 80MW for individual homes with solar capacity ranging from 3kW-10kW and for 20MW of residential or housing society with projects with solar capacity ranging from 11kW-100kW.

Tata Power had bagged the capacity in a bid announced by KSEBL in February 2021 under the ‘Soura Subsidy Scheme in Domestic Sector’, Kerala, in accordance with the Phase II Subsidy Programme of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.

According to the company, the solar rooftop project has to be commissioned within three months of receiving the order from individual residential customers.

Apart from rooftop, Tata Power had earlier been issued a letter of award from KSEBL in January 2021 for developing a 110MW solar power project, which is anticipated to produce nearly 274 MUs of energy per annum.

After its completion, the 84MW solar rooftop project is expected to produce 120 MUs of energy per year and will annually offset around 100 million Kg of CO2.
