Tata Motors leads EV innovation in India with advanced acti.ev architecture
In a groundbreaking move, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility (TPEM), a leader in India‘s EV evolution, has introduced its first advanced Pure EV architecture, named acti.ev (pronounced as ‘active’). This significant development stands for Advanced Connected Tech-Intelligent Electric Vehicle and is set to underpin future products from the TPEM portfolio. The first product to be based on this revolutionary architecture is the Punch.ev, heralding a variety of products with multiple body styles and sizes.
Punch.ev: The First Product of TPEM’s New EV Architecture
Customers can book their Punch.ev at Tata Motors showrooms authorized for EV sales or at Tata.ev stores with a payment of just ₹21,000. Online bookings are also available, marking a new phase in easy access to electric vehicles in India. Anand Kulkarni, Chief Products Officer, Head of HV Programs and Customer Service at TPEM, expressed pride in this made-in-India architecture, which he said promises class-leading efficiencies and an enhanced driving experience. The acti.ev is a global-ready, future-facing architecture that supports software-oriented features, ensuring technologically advanced and future-proof vehicles.
Innovative Layers of the acti.ev Architecture
The acti.ev architecture rests on four key pillars: Performance, Technology, Modularity, and Space Efficiency. It consists of multiple layers, including:
– Powertrain: Featuring an optimized battery pack design with advanced global standards, the acti.ev architecture offers a 10% improvement in energy density and multiple range options from 300 km to 600 km. It supports various drivetrain options and fast charging capabilities.
– Chassis: The architecture includes a flat floor design without a transmission tunnel, maximizing cabin space and storage. Its lower center of gravity enhances driving dynamics and handling.
– Electrical Architecture: Equipped for ADAS level 2 capabilities and future-ready for 5G, this layer ensures higher standards of safety, navigation, and connectivity.
– Cloud Architecture: Focused on a scalable cloud architecture, acti.ev promises an enhanced user experience with advanced over-the-air updates and in-car app suites.
A New Chapter for EVs in India
TPEM’s unveiling of the acti.ev architecture and the Punch.ev is a defining moment in India’s EV journey. It showcases TPEM’s commitment to leading the EV evolution in the country, promising a more sustainable and technologically advanced future in electric mobility.
