Tata Consultancy Services to integrate and revamp Sainsbury’s IT infrastructure

Sainsbury’s, a UK-based supermarket retailer, has partnered with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), an Indian multinational information technology services and consulting company, to fast-track its business growth.

Tata Consultancy Services, through the new multi-year partnership, will integrate and revamp the IT infrastructure of Sainsbury’s into a modern hybrid cloud stack deploying TCS Enterprise Cloud.

Being a strategic partner to Sainsbury’s for over a decade, Tata Consultancy Services will also deliver end-to-end managed services for modern workplace services, network connectivity, and security.

Phil Jordan — Sainsbury’s Group CIO said: “This platform transformation underpinned by a cloud-first strategy is critical for our business. TCS was the partner of choice given their deep contextual knowledge and ability to align this transformation to our business strategy and vision.”

An integrated cloud platform is expected to help Sainsbury’s speed up its marketing activities, create new revenue streams, and enhance agility, flexibility, and resilience to respond in real time to fast changing business landscape, according to the IT company.

Shankar Narayanan — Tata Consultancy Services President of Retail Cluster said: “We are excited to expand our partnership with Sainsbury’s and help them achieve their cloud-first strategy while setting up a solid foundation for future growth.

Founded in 1869, Sainsbury plc, trading as Sainsbury’s, is said to be the second largest chain of supermarkets in the UK with a 14.9% share of the supermarket sector.

Tata Consultancy Services, a part of the Tata Group, operates in 150 locations across 46 countries and reportedly has more than 600,000 employees globally.
