Rio Tinto has agreed to acquire the Aurukun Bauxite Project from Glencore and Mitsubishi Development for an undisclosed price, adding a potential eight-million-tonne-a-year Cape York mine to its Queensland pipeline while regulatory approvals, a mining lease and Traditional Owner engagement remain unresolved.
