STMicroelectronics N.V. plans to seek shareholder approval for a one-year extension of Chief Executive Officer Jean-Marc Chery's mandate as the chipmaker works through a manufacturing and cost restructuring that could reduce total workforce numbers by about 5,000 over three years. The short extension preserves leadership continuity without closing the longer-term succession question.
