Starman New Photonics

GoPro shareholders will receive $285 million in cash while retaining about 10% of the combined company after a merger with privately held Starman Optical. The deal also repays roughly $92 million of GoPro debt and adds U.S.-made optical transceivers for AI data centres. The transaction may solve an immediate liquidity crisis, but it also asks investors to believe GoPro’s optics, imaging patents and consumer brand can support a second life in AI, defence and aerospace.
