Sydney Metro West project : Bechtel to be integration and delivery partner
The New South Wales (NSW) government has selected American EPC and project management company Bechtel as its integration and delivery partner for the Sydney Metro West project.
Sydney Metro West is a driverless metro rail line. The 24km long underground railway line will connect Greater Parramatta and the Sydney Central Business District.
The driverless metro rail line is expected to reduce the travel time between Greater Parramatta and the Sydney Central Business District to nearly 20 minutes.
The Sydney Metro West project, which was started in 2020, is estimated to generate nearly 10,000 direct and 70,000 indirect jobs for its construction.
Apart from the current work, Bechtel is working as delivery partner for the stations, tunnels, and excavation package on Sydney Metro, City & South West.
The EPC company is also the NSW government’s delivery partner on the new Western Sydney Airport.
Scott Osborne – Bechtel General Manager for Asia Pacific said: “Sydney Metro West is a vital piece of infrastructure for NSW, and we are honored to be working with the NSW Government and Sydney Metro on this transformational project.
“Sydney is our Infrastructure headquarters for the Asia Pacific region. This project further reinforces our commitment to infrastructure in NSW and Australia. We look forward to partnering with Sydney Metro, contractors, suppliers and the local workforce to deliver a world class rail line for the people of NSW.”
