Subsea 7 has bagged a contract from Royal Dutch Shell for the Pierce Depressurisation Project at the Pierce Field in the North Sea, located nearly 160 miles offshore, east of Aberdeen in Scotland.

The contract price is in the range of $50-150 million, said the UK-based subsea engineering, construction, and services company.

Under the Pierce Depressurisation Project contract, Subsea 7 will handle the engineering, procurement, construction, transportation and installation (EPCI and T&I) of a 30km long gas export pipeline, a gas export riser and related subsea infrastructure to be used for tie-ins at the Haewene Brim FPSO.

Subsea 7’s office in Aberdeen has started project management and detailed engineering work with offshore activities slated to begin for 2020 and 2021.

Commenting on the Pierce Depressurisation Project contract, Jonathan Tame – Subsea 7 Vice President UK & Canada, said: “This award recognises our extensive knowledge of Shell’s North Sea developments, gained over almost 30 years of working closely together to deliver safe and cost-effective construction, inspection, repair and maintenance operations across Shell’s European offshore fields and facilities.”

Last week, Subsea 7 acquired 4Subsea, a Norwegian subsea solutions provider, for an undisclosed price. 4Subsea is into technology and services that enable oil and gas, and offshore wind operators across the world in making important decisions.
