SJVN Limited begins commissioning of 75MW solar power project in UP

SJVN Limited said that it has begun commissioning its 75MW solar power project in Tehsil Kalpi, Jalaun district in Uttar Pradesh via its fully-owned subsidiary SJVN Green Energy.

According to SJVN Limited, the entire 75MW capacity will be commissioned by the end of this month.

SJVN Limited, which is a joint venture between the Indian government and the Himachal Pradesh government, said that the solar power plant located near Kanpur will produce 168.34 million units (MUs) in the first year of operations. Through its lifetime of 25 years, the SJVN solar power project in Uttar Pradesh is projected to generate nearly 3,919 Mus of power.

The solar power plant is underpinned by a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL).

SJVN Limited expects the solar power project to enhance its annual revenue to nearly INR 45.11 crores.

SJVN Limited stated: “The Company’s renewable portfolio stands at 4007.5 MW out of which 179.5 MW is under operation, 1370 MW is under construction and 2458 MW are at different stages of implementation.

“With the commissioning of this 75 MW Solar project, cumulative operational capacity will increase from 2016.5 MW to 2091.5 MW.”
