Shearwater GeoServices wins 3D seismic exploration project in South Africa

Shearwater GeoServices, a Norway-based marine geophysical services provider, has won a 3D seismic survey contract for acquisition in South Africa.

The award was announced for the 3D seismic exploration project was announced in October 2021.

Shearwater GeoServices said that more than 6,000 sqkm of 3D seismic data will be acquired during the survey by the Amazon Warrior seismic acquisition vessel.

The 3D seismic exploration project is intended to last nearly four months.

According to Shearwater GeoServices, the Amazon class vessels were designed from the ground up with the customer in mind. The seismic acquisition vessels are said to offer a stable platform in challenging seas and are suited ideally to conditions in South African waters, said Shearwater GeoServices.
