Serinus Energy said that it has started the drilling of the Canar-1 exploratory well in the onshore Carei Basin in Romania.
The Jersey-based upstream oil and gas company drilled the Canar-1 well to a depth of 1,600m to target three prospective hydrocarbon zones.
Located on the northern flank of the Carei Basin, the Canar prospect is nearly 4km to the west of Serinus Energy’s Moftinu gas plant.
According to Serinus Energy, the drilling of the Canar-1 exploration well is for finding further hydrocarbons on the migration path from the source kitchen of the Carei Basin. In case of a discovery, the company plans to produce from the well by connecting it to the Moftinu Gas Plant and utilize the existing plant capacity.
