Serco to acquire German immigration specialist European Homecare for €40m
Serco, a prominent provider of public services, has finalized an agreement to acquire European Homecare (EHC), a specialist in immigration services for public sector customers in Germany, from Korte-Stiftung. The deal, valued at €40 million (£34 million), is set to significantly enhance Serco’s reach in the immigration services sector upon completion, subject to competition authority clearance.
European Homecare: A Pioneer in German Immigration Market
European Homecare, a trailblazer in the German immigration market since 1989, has established itself as a leading private provider of comprehensive immigration services. Its offerings encompass accommodation, medical and social care, training, and education for asylum seekers. With an experienced management team, over 2,000 employees, and management of more than 100 facilities, EHC provides support for over 36,000 people seeking asylum.
Strategic Expansion for Serco’s International Platform
This acquisition represents a strategic expansion for Serco’s international immigration services platform, which already has substantial operations in the UK, Australia, and Europe. The integration of European Homecare into Serco’s portfolio is expected to enhance the company’s capabilities and extend its reach in the immigration services sector.
Mark Irwin, Serco Group Chief Executive, emphasized the strategic significance of the acquisition. He stated that it complements their ORS operations and strengthens their position as a key partner in immigration services for European governments. Irwin highlighted the complex and growing global requirements for immigration and asylum seeker support services, underscoring Serco’s track record of providing high standards of service and commitment to respectful and caring treatment of service users. The acquisition promises to bolster Serco’s presence in Germany and expand the immigration support it provides to government customers in the UK, Australia, and across Europe.
