Seaside LNG has announced a significant achievement with its first delivery of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to the Carnival Jubilee, a cruise ship propelled by LNG and stationed in Galveston, Texas. This delivery, conducted on December 30, 2023, represents a monumental moment in the U.S. maritime industry, marking the first in-port ship-to-ship LNG bunkering delivery not only in Galveston but also across the entire U.S. Gulf Coast.
Strategic Expansion of Seaside LNG Operations
The operation was executed following months of meticulous planning involving multiple stakeholders, including the Port of Galveston. Seaside’s barge, the Clean Jacksonville, previously stationed in Jacksonville, Florida, has been relocated to operate out of Galveston, serving the Texas Gulf Coast. To date, the Clean Jacksonville has successfully completed over 350 bunkering operations.
New Fleet Additions and Collaborative Efforts
In related developments, the Clean Everglades, the latest addition to the Seaside LNG fleet, made its inaugural delivery last week to Isla Bella at TOTE Maritime’s terminal near Jacksonville, Florida. This operation, a regular part of TOTE’s long-term service contract with Seaside’s maritime transportation company Polaris New Energy (PNE), underscores Seaside’s expanding operational capabilities. The Clean Everglades, an articulated tug barge with a capacity of 5,500 cubic meters of LNG, joined the fleet in October 2023. TOTE Services plays a vital role as Seaside’s operating partner for both the Clean Jacksonville and Clean Everglades.
Seaside LNG’s Vision for Clean Maritime Fuel
Tim Casey, CEO of Seaside LNG, expressed enthusiasm about the recent achievements: “The Seaside LNG team is excited to start 2024 off strong with these two deliveries. We appreciate the trust our customers put in us for these crucial fueling operations and recognize TOTE Services for their reliable partnership.”
Seaside LNG’s Growing Market Presence
Seaside LNG specializes in LNG production and maritime transportation logistics, catering to the growing demand for LNG as a cleaner alternative fuel in the maritime, aerospace, and transportation industries. The company’s investment in the LNG production facility JAX LNG and its ownership in an LNG bunkering barge operation through PNE demonstrates its commitment to pioneering LNG bunkering in the U.S. PNE maintains the largest fleet of Jones Act-compliant bunkering vessels in the U.S., compatible with a variety of vessel types and continually expanding its geographic reach and fleet.
Tbe company’s successful LNG delivery to Carnival Jubilee and its strategic expansion in the U.S. Gulf Coast highlight the company’s role as a leader in the sustainable energy transition within the maritime industry. By providing cleaner fuel alternatives and expanding its operational capacity, Seaside LNG is not only contributing to environmental conservation but also shaping the future of eco-friendly maritime transportation.
