Schneider Electric launches innovative battery energy storage system with Graybar as partner
Schneider Electric, a global leader in the digital transformation of energy management and automation, has announced the launch of its new Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), designed to significantly enhance microgrid applications. This system, part of Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure™ Microgrid Flex, aims to provide a scalable, flexible, and efficient energy storage solution. Graybar, a leading distributor in electrical, communications, and data networking products, has been named as the inaugural channel partner, marking a significant collaboration in the renewable energy sector.
The newly introduced BESS by Schneider Electric is set to become a cornerstone for fully integrated microgrid solutions, driven by the company’s advanced controls, optimization, and renowned digital and field services. This system is crafted to cater to a variety of energy needs, aiming to reduce energy expenditures and increase the use of renewable resources such as solar photovoltaics.
Jana Gerber, President of North America Microgrids at Schneider Electric, expressed pride in their advanced battery conversion technology, “With over two decades of expertise, we are proud to introduce a solution meticulously crafted to serve multiple energy needs. Our aim is to streamline energy expenditures while amplifying the use of renewable resources.”
The BESS includes a battery system, management system, power conversion system, and controller, all integrated into Schneider Electric’s standardized microgrid system. The system is designed for easy installation and maintenance, featuring a pre-integrated, all-in-one enclosure that simplifies engineering, construction, and installation processes. Additionally, the BESS is UL certified and compliant, featuring advanced safety controls and a state-of-the-art fire safety system.
The Battery Energy Storage System captures energy from various sources, stores it in rechargeable batteries, and dispatches it when needed, especially during peak consumption hours. This capability supports critical functions like demand-charge reduction, grid services, and renewable self-consumption. The system’s scalable configuration allows for multiple units to operate as one, enhancing its functionality and application scope.
The partnership between Schneider Electric and Graybar underscores both companies’ commitment to advancing renewable energy solutions and grid resilience. Kathleen M. Mazzarella, Chairman, President, and CEO of Graybar, highlighted the strategic importance of this collaboration, “Graybar is proud to be at the forefront of innovation as the inaugural channel partner for Schneider Electric’s state-of-the-art Battery Energy Storage System.”
With the global shift towards sustainable energy solutions and net-zero objectives, Schneider Electric’s BESS is poised to make a significant impact on the market. It offers substantial energy savings and maximizes renewable integration, catering to the needs of office, industrial, and commercial facilities, as well as electric vehicles and grid services. The system’s bidirectional connectivity to the grid further enhances its utility, providing crucial energy storage and supply during outages and peak demand periods.
