Sanjeev Jain appointed by Wipro as its new chief operating officer

Wipro Limited, a prominent technology services and consulting company, today announced a significant leadership transition. Sanjeev Jain has been appointed as the Chief Operating Officer (COO), effective immediately. Jain succeeds Amit Choudhary, who is stepping down to pursue other opportunities. As the new COO, Jain will report directly to Srinivas Pallia, the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, and will maintain his role on Wipro’s Executive Committee.

Extensive Background and Strategic Vision

Sanjeev Jain joined Wipro in 2023 as the Global Head of Business Operations. With over 30 years of experience in managing large and diverse teams, scaling global operations, and applying Lean Six Sigma and design thinking principles, Jain has been a pivotal figure in driving operational excellence and business transformation across the company.

Over the past year, Jain has spearheaded significant initiatives within Wipro, including leading the talent supply chain, overseeing Wipro’s gig work platform TopGear, and directing talent skilling, global mobility, talent acquisition, and business resilience functions. His leadership has been crucial in the development and implementation of Wipro’s AI training and upskilling strategy, successfully training over 225,000 employees in AI principles.

Role and Responsibilities as COO

In his new role as COO, Jain is tasked with continuing Wipro’s mission to build a client-centric delivery organization aimed at fostering sustainable, profitable, and delivery-led growth. He will oversee Global Business Operations, the Chief Information Office, the Chief Information Security Office, and the Enterprise Risk Management function. Jain is also expected to play a key role in transformation initiatives across the organization.

Srinivas Pallia, CEO and Managing Director of Wipro Limited, praised Jain’s contributions, stating, “In the short time that Sanjeev has been with Wipro, he has developed strong relationships with on-the-ground delivery teams and made a significant impact on our strategic thinking and execution prowess. Acknowledgement of Former COO

Pallia also expressed gratitude to Amit Choudhary for his leadership and foundational work over the last two years, which will be instrumental as the company moves forward. Choudhary will work closely with Jain and Pallia until the end of May to ensure a smooth transition.

Sanjeev Jain’s extensive background includes leadership roles at Kyndryl Holdings, IBM, Cognizant, and GE. A distinguished alumnus of IIM-Mumbai and a certified Master Black Belt from GE, Jain will be based in Bengaluru.
