Health technology company Royal Philips has launched HeartStart Intrepid monitor/defibrillator with IntelliSpace Connect in Europe and certain markets in Asia and Africa.
The HeartStart Intrepid with IntelliSpace Connect has been designed to help caregivers in assessing and treating patients during medical emergencies in pre-hospital and hospital settings alike.
The monitor cum defibrillator device is CE mark approved.
According to Royal Philips, the HeartStart Intrepid monitor/defibrillator is intended for use in multiple emergency settings in the hospital and will help clinicians for patient assessment and to provide the suitable treatment such as defibrillation if a patient gets a sudden cardiac arrest.
On the other hand, IntelliSpace Connect is a cloud-based data management solution designed to enable coordinate care to the patients throughout their clinical care journey.
IntelliSpace Connect assists in integrating emergency event data into electronic patient care reporting (ePCR) and electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) for accurate event documentation to enable billing. The secure data storage provided by the cloud-based solution makes it possible for post-event review for quality improvement initiatives.
Arman Voskerchyan – Business Leader of Therapeutic Care at Royal Philips said: “First responders don’t often know what to expect when they arrive at the scene of an emergency, so they have to be equipped and ready to handle anything that may come up in the field.
“A full range of monitoring capabilities and decision support tools let emergency staff quickly evaluate and treat patients in life-threatening situations. Enhanced connectivity between care settings helps to streamline communication and improve clinical workflow for caregivers, ultimately allowing them to provide patients with better care.”
The Philips HeartStart Intrepid is said to be lightweight, rugged, and portable which is said to address the rigors of emergency medical service (EMS) use and also the physical demands of intra-hospital transport and emergency department.
Royal Philips says that the monitor cum defibrillator device provides comprehensive vital patient monitoring parameters and diagnostic measurements to accelerate triage and support clinicians in deciding the best course of care.
The Philips HeartStart Intrepid also offers the QCPR solution that gives integrated CPR feedback and guidance for compressions and also ventilations.
Accessed through a browser, IntelliSpace Connect removes the need for specialized hardware and software upgrades. Powered by the Philips HealthSuite cloud platform, IntelliSpace Connect offers a simple, cost-effective option for hospitals through a Software-as-a-Service model, said Royal Philips.
