Angry Birds fame Rovio Entertainment acquires Finnish game studio PlayRaven
Rovio acquisition of PlayRaven : Rovio Entertainment, the Finnish video game developer behind the Angry Birds mobile games and movie, has acquired PlayRaven for an undisclosed price as per the latest gaming industry news.

Also based in Finland, PlayRaven, which was established in 2013, is a maker of mobile strategy games such as Eve: War of Ascension and Spymaster.
Commenting on Rovio acquisition of PlayRaven, Kati Levoranta – CEO of Rovio Entertainment, said: “Strategy games is one of the largest genres in mobile games and we believe that by joining forces with PlayRaven’s talented and skilled personnel we strengthen our know-how and speed up expansion into strategy games.
Headquartered in Helsinki, PlayRaven has 25 employees.

Rovio Entertainment, which was founded in 2003, has also developed other video games like Bad Piggies, Battle Bay, Fruit Nibblers, Shakira and others.
Headquartered in Espoo, Rovio Entertainment creates, develops and publishes mobile games and also plays a role as a brand licensor in a number of entertainment and consumer product segments.
The Finnish video game developer produced The Angry Birds Movie, a 3D animation movie based on its popular Angry Birds mobile games, which was released in May 2016.
Last month, Rovio Entertainment said that it will release a sequel for The Angry Birds Movie, called The Angry Birds Movie 2, which is slated to hit the screens on 16 August, 2019. Originally, the sequel of The Angry Birds Movie 2 was planned for September 2019.
