RITES Limited, an Indian transport infrastructure consultancy and engineering firm, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT Guwahati) to partner on improving infrastructure facilities and promoting multimodal transport systems in North-East India.
In this connection, the parties will engage to provide technical services, which include design of rail, road, design audit of bridges, rail-cum-road bridges, road over bridges and tunnels, rehabilitation works of bridges, proof checking works, structural health monitoring, design of slopes, slope stability analysis, knowledge sharing, and research and development activities.
RK Dayal — RITES Executive Director (Urban Infrastructure) said: “The collaboration between RITES and IIT Guwahati, an institute of excellence, is a committed step towards building safe and efficient transport infrastructure focused on sustainable solutions in the North-Eastern region.”
RITES, which is a subsidiary of Indian Railways, said that the partnership with IIT Guwahati is planned to bring in best practices by making use of each other’s technical expertise to develop sustainable and robust infrastructure in the North-Eastern region.
