Revealed: Congress’s game-changing manifesto for Telangana – A revolution in promises
AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge has released the Congress manifesto, titled ‘Abhaya Hastham,’ for the upcoming Telangana Assembly polls. This manifesto, a 42-page document, is packed with Six Guarantees and numerous welfare measures, signaling a potential transformation in Telangana’s political landscape.
A Manifesto of Promises and Reforms
Among the manifesto’s headline promises are replacing the Dharani portal with Bhumata, offering 24×7 free power to agriculture, waiving crop loans up to Rs 2 lakh, and filling 2 lakh job vacancies annually. TPCC president A. Revanth Reddy has likened the manifesto to holy scriptures, vowing to implement all promises in letter and spirit if Congress is voted to power.
End to Dictatorship and Restoration of Democratic Governance
The manifesto takes a bold stance against the “unprecedented dictatorship” of the current TRS/BRS government, pledging to restore democratic governance in Telangana. Promising a return of ‘Praja Darbar’ at the CM camp office and constant MLA availability, the Congress aims to revitalize public governance.
Judicial Inquiry and Corruption Crackdown
Kharge, in the presence of notable party leaders, announced a judicial inquiry by a High Court judge into the alleged corruption and scams under the BRS government, particularly concerning the Kaleshwaram project. The manifesto also commits to reviewing the Pharma City policy as per farmers’ aspirations and court orders.
Sweeping Development and Welfare Measures
The Congress government, if elected, promises free internet through Wi-Fi facilities for students, substantial discounts on pending traffic challans, and financial assistance for girls’ marriages. Ambitious infrastructure developments like new Metro Rail routes and flood-free initiatives for Hyderabad are also highlighted.
Commitment to Addressing Public Services and Employment
The manifesto introduces the Right to Public Services Act, a comprehensive portal for public complaints, and a toll-free number for grievances. It also promises reorganization of districts, naming one after late Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao. To tackle unemployment, a monthly allowance and a revamped TSPSC recruitment schedule are promised.
The Congress’s ‘Abhaya Hastham’ manifesto marks a daring and transformational vision for Telangana, offering sweeping changes across governance, infrastructure, and public welfare. With its eye-catching promises, the manifesto could reshape the political discourse in the region, heralding a new era of development and democracy.
