TOYOTA GAZOO Racing (TGR) has officially announced significant upgrades to its GR86 sports car model, designed to enhance turning performance and provide easier handling at upper limits, reinforcing the distinctive driving experience characteristic of GR vehicles. Starting August 1, Toyota dealers across Japan will begin sales of the upgraded GR86, with orders currently being accepted.

In conjunction with the upgraded GR86, TGR introduced the RZ “Ridge Green Limited” edition, a special model limited to just 200 units. This edition features the newly added Ridge Green exterior color, exclusive bronze wheels, and unique interior embroidery, adding an extra layer of exclusivity and appeal. A purchasing lottery for this limited edition runs until July 28, with sales slated to begin in October.

– Improved Shock Absorber Damping: Enhances ground contact, maintaining the sports car’s direct handling.

– Enhanced Electric Power Steering (EPS): Offers intuitive handling and responsive interaction with the driver, ensuring agility without compromising steering stability.

– Manual Transmission Enhancements: Modifications to engine torque control for easier blipping and throttle control for more direct response, enhancing handling at the car’s performance limits.

– Automatic Transmission Enhancements: Expanded engine-speed tolerance range during downshifts, allowing for sportier driving and a broader torque band.

– Tire Pressure Warning System: Increases safety by alerting the driver to changes in tire pressure.
