Rajinikanth Jailer dominates BO, outpaces Chiranjeevi Bhola Shankar
Rajinikanth’s latest blockbuster ‘Jailer’ released on August 10 and has swiftly ascended to box office (BO) dominance, amassing over Rs 75 crore in its initial two days in India. The film started off with an astounding Rs 48 crore on its debut day, followed by an impressive Rs 27 crore on day two, as per early projections by trade portal Sacnilk.
Internationally, the film’s success isn’t limited to India. Trade expert Manobala Vijayabalan confirmed, “‘Jailer’ has marked its spot in the esteemed $2M club at the US box office.” This achievement further solidifies Rajinikanth’s reputation, holding the record for the highest number of movies in this prestigious club.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh lauded the movie, declaring, “Rajinikanth’s ‘Jailer’ revives the HOUSE FULL BOARDS. The film, being the maiden collaboration between Rajinikanth and Nelson, has received an overwhelming worldwide reception. The fusion of Rajinikanth’s dynamic performance and the compelling narrative ensures a strong weekend for ‘Jailer’.”
Adding to the movie’s star power, ‘Jailer’ also showcases appearances from notable actors such as Malayalam superstar Mohanlal and Kannada superstar Shiva Rajkumar. The ensemble cast includes Jackie Shroff, Ramya Krishnan, Tamannaah, and Vinayakan. Anirudh Ravichander is the mastermind behind the film’s chartbuster tracks ‘Kaavaalaa’ and ‘Hukum’.
In the realm of competition, Chiranjeevi’s ‘Bhola Shankar’ premiered a day post the release of ‘Jailer’, on August 11. The film commenced with an earning of Rs 20 crore on its opening day, based on Sacnilk’s initial estimates. With a reported overall occupancy of 61.92% on its first day, ‘Jailer’ might maintain a lead over ‘Bhola Shankar’ in upcoming days.
For context, ‘Bhola Shankar’ is a Telugu adaptation of the 2015 Tamil film ‘Vedalam’ featuring Ajith Kumar. The movie, directed by Meher Ramesh, stars Chiranjeevi, Tamannaah, Keerthy Suresh, and Sushanth in pivotal roles.
