RailTel Corporation wins Rs 80cr contract from Indian Air Force (AFNET)

RailTel Corporation of India, a fully-owned subsidiary of Indian Railways, said that it has bagged a work order worth INR 89.09 crore from the Indian Air Force (AFNET).

Under the contract, RailTel Corporation of India will be responsible for providing a comprehensive annual maintenance contract for the Indian Air Force’s Air Force Network (AFNET) equipment and associated items for a period of two years.

RailTel Corporation of India is a neutral telecom infrastructure provider, which owns an optic fiber network spread across India on exclusive right of way (ROW) along the railway tracks.

On the other hand, AFNET is a digital information grid, which is owned, operated, and managed by the Indian Air Force. Inaugurated in 2010, the Indian Air Force (AFNET) was developed by the Indian Air Force in collaboration with HCL Technologies and also Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL).
