PTC Industries, Safran Aircraft Engines forge multi-year contract for LEAP engine parts
India-based PTC Industries, in a landmark agreement with Safran Aircraft Engines, a global leader in aero engine design and manufacturing from France, has announced a multi-year contract. This collaboration involves the development of industrial cooperation for casting parts of LEAP engines. PTC Industries will be manufacturing titanium-casting parts, aligning with the Indian Government’s “Make in India” policy. This move is part of Safran Aircraft Engines’ strategy to develop a comprehensive aero engines ecosystem in India and to strengthen its supply chain for the LEAP production ramp-up.
Located in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, PTC Industries is renowned for its expertise in advanced casting processes and precision machining. The first batch of titanium casting parts for LEAP engines, designed for single-aisle jets, is expected to be delivered in early 2024. This partnership is set to enhance the capabilities and reach of both companies in the global aerospace market.
Sachin Agarwal, Chairman & Managing Director of PTC Industries, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership: “We are delighted to develop a new cooperation with one of the world-leading aircraft engine manufacturers. Through this partnership, we look forward to leveraging our expertise in the casting process to support the ambitious production challenges of the LEAP program.”
Dominique Dupuy, Vice President Purchasing at Safran Aircraft Engines, highlighted the significance of this collaboration: “Having PTC Industries expanding our global supply chain is a major step forward for our company. PTC, with its investment in its new facilities in Lucknow, pave the way to a successful cooperation over the coming years.”
Safran Aircraft Engines has established a strong presence in India with five production facilities across Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Goa. This is further complemented by a sixth site in Hyderabad dedicated to LEAP MRO activities by 2025. India ranks as the third-largest operator of the LEAP engine globally, with a substantial portion of its commercial aircraft equipped with CFM’s advanced turbofan engines. To date, Indian airlines have ordered over 2,200 LEAP engines.
