Renowned Indian actor Prakash Raj, known for his critical stance on the current Indian government, recently stirred a whirlwind of reactions online. His sarcastic commentary on India’s significant moon mission, Chandrayaan-3, has incited a wave of displeasure among netizens. Many have labeled his remark as “poor taste” and “insensitive.”
Posting on the microblogging platform X, the actor cheekily captioned an image stating, “BREAKING NEWS:- First picture coming from the Moon by #VikramLander Wowww #justasking,” accompanied by a cartoon depicting a man pouring tea. This move did not sit well with many, leading to a barrage of criticism and backlash.
An impassioned user responded, “Chandrayaan-3 is a symbol of national pride, transcending political divides. It’s crucial to differentiate political banter from national achievements.” Another disgruntled commenter noted the distinction between disliking an individual and undermining one’s nation, expressing disappointment in Raj’s tone. Yet another voiced, “Chandrayaan-3 and ISRO’s achievements spark unity and hope among billions. If you can’t appreciate that, your disdain for certain entities evidently overshadows your national pride.”
On a factual note, Chandrayaan-3 took to the skies, powered by the LVM3 rocket, departing from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota on July 14. Successfully entering lunar orbit by August 5, it’s slated for a much-anticipated soft landing on the Moon come August 23.
