Prabhas’ Kalki 2898 AD smashes records: Fastest Rs 1000 crore ever!
“Kalki 2898 AD,” directed by Nag Ashwin and featuring an all-star cast including Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan, and Amitabh Bachchan, has made a spectacular impact at the global box office. Since its release on June 27, the film has rapidly gained momentum, achieving a monumental milestone by crossing the Rs 1000 crore mark in worldwide collections as of July 13.
In just 17 days, “Kalki 2898 AD” has shattered several box office records, demonstrating strong audience approval and robust earnings. The sci-fi thriller, produced by Vyjayanthi Movies, not only captivates audiences with its engaging storyline and high-quality production but also stands out as the costliest movie ever made in India with a budget of Rs 6 billion.
The film has been particularly successful in the domestic market, with cumulative earnings reaching Rs 554 crore. The Hindi version alone has contributed significantly to the total, with noted trade analyst Taran Adarsh highlighting its resilience against new releases such as “Sarfira” and “Hindustani 2.” Adarsh noted, “Despite two major films invading the marketplace, ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ emerges as the first choice of moviegoers.” The film also excels in the international arena, becoming the second highest-grossing Indian film in North America with earnings of USD 13.92 million, only trailing behind “Baahubali: The Conclusion.”
The film’s production team expressed their gratitude towards the fans, stating, “This milestone is a celebration of your love. We poured our hearts into this film, and you embraced it with open hearts.” Such achievements underscore the film’s universal appeal and the effective collaboration among its cast and crew.
“Kalki 2898 AD’s” box office success is a testament to the growing influence of Indian cinema on a global scale, especially in genres traditionally dominated by Hollywood such as science fiction and action. The film’s ability to resonate with diverse audiences highlights the evolving landscape of Indian filmmaking and its expanding reach.
