Since its release, Prabhas-starrer “Salaar: Part 1- Ceasefire” has been raking in the moolah at the box office. Directed by ace filmmaker Prashanth Neel, the movie launched with a staggering opening of Rs 90 crore (Rs 900 million) in the domestic market, setting the stage for an unprecedented box office journey.
Eclipsing Major Blockbusters
The film, featuring stellar performances from Prithviraj Sukumaran, Jagapathi Babu, and Shruti Haasan, quickly became the audience’s top choice, overshadowing Shah Rukh Khan’s “Dunki”. On its 13th day, “Salaar” crossed the Rs 650 crore (Rs 6.5 billion) mark worldwide, positioning itself as the third highest-grossing Telugu film after the legendary “Baahubali 2” and “RRR”. This milestone has thrust “Salaar” into a league of its own, surpassing even Rajnikanth’s “Jailer” and the first “Baahubali”.
A Box Office Juggernaut
According to reports by Sacnilk, the film earned around Rs 5.25 crore (Rs 52.5 million) in India net, taking its total domestic collection to an astonishing Rs 368.32 crore (Rs 3.6 billion). As of Wednesday (Jan 3), “Salaar” continues to dominate with an overall 17.97% Telugu occupancy, a testament to its unwavering popularity.
The Resurgence of Prabhas
After a series of underwhelming performances at the box office, including the high-budget “Adipurush” and other releases like “Radhe Shyam” and “Saaho”, “Salaar: Part 1- Ceasefire” marks a triumphant comeback for Prabhas. The film’s success has revitalized his career, proving his star power and box office draw.
Looking Ahead: Prabhas’s Upcoming Ventures
Hot on the heels of “Salaar’s” success, Prabhas is set to star in Nag Ashwin’s “Kalki 2898 AD”, alongside Deepika Padukone and Amitabh Bachchan. With the actor’s box office trajectory on a meteoric rise, the industry and fans alike eagerly await his next cinematic endeavor.
