Pakistan Petroleum announces new gas and condensate discovery in Sindh

Pakistan Petroleum Limited, as the operator of Shah Bandar Block (2467-16), along with joint venture partners Mari Petroleum Company Limited, Sindh Energy Holding Company Limited, and Government Holdings (Private) Limited, has made a significant gas and condensate discovery at the exploration well Jhim East X-1 in District Sujawal, Sindh. This discovery marks the second major find in the Shah Bandar Block.

Jhim East X-1 Well: A Step Forward in Bridging Energy Gaps

The Jhim East X-1 well was spud on October 8, 2023, and reached a depth of 2,545 meters to assess the hydrocarbon potential of the upper sands of the Lower Goru formation. The drilling results and wireline logs indicated potential hydrocarbon bearing zones. During testing, the Lower Goru upper sand (A sand) produced a flow of 13.69 MMscfd gas and 236 barrels/day condensate, with a wellhead flowing pressure of 2,668 psig at a 32/64″ choke. This well is currently undergoing further evaluation to gather more performance data.
